NACD Philadelphia Chapter events provide an excellent opportunity to network with your director peers while learning about the most current and challenging topics facing directors today, including: risk, compliance, culture and more. The NACD Philadelphia Chapter has been extending its footprint into the surrounding areas, and is now hosting programming in Delaware, central and northern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey.
The NACD Philadelphia Chapter looks forward to seeing you for a morning program: A Conversation with David Cohen, on March 3, 2020, at Philadelphia Country Club. Our program will begin at 7:30 a.m. for registration and breakfast, the discussion will follow 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., and we will enjoy additional networking 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President of Comcast Corporation, for a discussion on deepening Board engagement in the strategy process. David recently announced a transition from his day to day operational leadership role ultimately to serve as a senior counselor to the CEO after helping to transform the Philadelphia-based cable company into a global media and technology company since joining Comcast almost 20 years ago.
David will share how corporate board and management can work together to develop strategy, the challenges and pitfalls of getting it right and his experience in the board room and at Comcast.
We will discuss how corporate directors should not limit their engagement in strategy development to annual discussions with management or crisis situations, and how board engagement on strategy is a continual process, and issues related to strategy should be the central focus of board activity year-round.
The Report of the NACD Blue Ribbon Commission on Strategy Development discusses why boards should reassess how they approach their role in strategy, and provides a framework for earlier board engagement in the company’s strategy formulation, and tips for changing the rhythm of the board’s dialogue with management on strategy.
